Ouran Highschool Host Club, is a brilliantly funny series. It revolves around a school, for the insanely rich. Haruhi, our protagonist for the story, is just an ordinary commoner. One who has a dream, that they will work hard for, and that means a scholarship into Ouran for the potential and possibilities that it brings.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, that possibility includes strong friendship with the Host Club. You see, Haruhi accidently when searching for a place to study, stumbled across the third music room, who's primary purpose is not to host music, but rather for a group of guys to entertain themselves by providing a host club - to entertain and woo all the girls in the school. Put off balance by what were clearly strange and insane people Haruhi ended up breaking an incredibly expensive vase. And now, Haruhi needs to work off her debt - good thing the host club is such a fun place to be, right?
Don't let the genres put you off, this series is at least a must attempt to watch series - there are a few people who won't like it due to the overtop antics but they are relatively few! :P It's side splittingly funny and makes fun of a lot of clichés that are shown in anime - which although a new comer to anime can enjoy it - this series being very popular with people who have seen relatively little anime overall, it's this reviewers opinion that it can be better appreciated after you have a few other series under your belt.
The animation is gorgeous and full of life. The music is lovely and fits the series well. The one significant problem that I think the series has, if with pacing of the plot - as it slows down from the dramatic pace in the beginning to become a bit slower towards then. nd I personally have some criticism that are based upon how it was adapted, with some minor characters being pushed back, however if I had not read the manga it would not have ever occurred to me, and the anime also improves upon the manga, by giving such a brilliant life to the scenes that just can not be captured on paper and spacing out some of the busier scenes in the manga.
This is a gorgeous, lovely hilarious series and highly recommend it!
